New Year - six month update.

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 28, 2009, 1:22 PM
Good GOD, where does my time keep going? It's been six months since I last updated this journal.

Life is okay. My pom is adorable (We got it shortly after my last journal post, lol). My kids are growing up too fast, in kindergarten and third grade, already.

Creativity has been stifled by complete randomness, but maybe not for too much longer. Check out black obelisk software for you writing geeks out there. This is especially interesting and really simple - [link] (not to mention *free*). Windows 7 is remarkably pretty and fast and has improved my previously somewhat-irritating windows experience (with vista).

Life has changed. Life is changing.

Zbrush is incredibly awesome, and as soon as I finish this last zbrush project that's way overdue, I'm going to delve into 3.5 and see what amazing things it's capable of.

Coffee's still good. Avatar was an amazing film. .Torrents rock, note me to talk about that stuff, lol. Back to work.

Summer-time 1

Wed Jun 17, 2009, 11:32 PM
Life might be changing for me. Rather drastically, but in a good way, I think. Things might get tough, and I might cry because I'm sometimes over-emotional about the strangest things, but we'll survive, carry on, and find happiness.

Without a doubt.

Anyways, let's move away from cryptic journal entries and talk a little about the now.

  • I'm editing for a new author-friend who has such a lovely story.

  • I just completed a 1000 piece puzzle over the course of 18 hours. Xbox pleasantly keeps a stupid timer to tell you how many hours you've wasted attempting to discern the tiniest differences in hue.

  • I'm procrastinating from some 3d work I said I'd do for my hubby...

  • I'm dying from thrill with my new computer. I'll post a list of parts later if anyone cares to hear me brag, lol. XD Matthew collaborated with my family to put together a sweet system that can totally keep up with the demands of my 3d assignments.

Next Door Neighbor, school results, summer plans

Wed May 20, 2009, 6:20 PM
I just discovered my next door neighbor - who's always been really nice - is retired art professor, George Bobby Jones, with work in exhibits and galleries in the US and Europe.

We had some great conversations about art, and I'm sorely disappointed that he's moving in two weeks. He's got some great stories to tell.

In other news, the semester was a smashing success. The only grade I was worried about (storyboard class) came back with a final grade of A-, so I must have done something right. :) I'm going to spend this summer working on a 3d model of a ship with my husband in Maya, a Zbrush model of the ship's figurehead, among other stalled art projects I've been meaning to finish. The ship model is something big, though... when it's complete, Matthew is going to submit it for display at a museum in Philly. My work, on display in a museum? Sounds too good to be true, but that would look awesome on a resume, heh

I also plan to ATTEMPT some basic CSS to make my dA journal look pretty.

I'm thinking about uploading some of the assignments I had to do this semester...

Random update - School, family, camera and coffee.

Thu Apr 2, 2009, 11:08 PM
Yes, I'm alive. haha...

School's still a thing for me. This semester I'm in:

ANM 270: Intro to Storyboarding
ANM 331: Games, Modeling and Texturing
LA 110: English Comp 2
LA 121: Art Hist. thru the 19th century

Storyboarding is a bit tough, because my teacher is REALLY stingy with As. It takes a whole lot of work (both art and participation) to get an A, and it's amazingly hard to participate when you have seven people in class, only three of which post anything. It's the smallest class I've ever had. I expect to get a B for my overall grade, but I about fell out of my seat when I saw my midterm grade was an A.

Games is a teeny bit boring, but we're going to move into Zbrush work next week, and so my fingers are itching to really get info on how that damned program works. I should probably post some of my 3d stuff, but I'll worry about that later.

I've used English Comp 2 as a perfect excuse to work some more on my long-running fanfic silliness (well, the original character parts of it, at least), and that ended up inspiring me to finish up two whole chapters for posting to MMO and FFN. Go me!

History class has had some interesting information. It's made me want to work more on some of the art projects I've accumulated in my projects folder, but I've yet to do so.

Audrey's in soccer this semester. She's having fun, and I've taken over 400 photographs. Matthew picked up a Fuji Finepix S2000 HD (from Circuit City just before they closed, he spent something like 180 on it!!) for his research trip up to the Northeast US, and ever since he brought it back, I've not need able to take my hands off of it. It's the most amazing camera I've ever played with. :D I absolutely love the fact that I can take so many picture in quick succession, which means that I won't miss so many of "those moments" while I wait for the camera to write the previous image to the card.

Sammy starts school next year. She's a bit clingy right now, but I have faith that she'll tough it out just fine. :)

Matthew bought me a new coffee pot, because my old one was leaking. It's not the nicest coffee pot in the store, but he made up for the lack of quality with this TO DIE FOR coffee and a whole box of those little french vanilla creamers. Best coffee I've had in a LOOOONG time.

Ugh, it's going to be 80 degrees tomorrow.

Semester OVER!

Sun Dec 21, 2008, 12:33 AM
holy cow, I almost didn't make it in time. XD

I got a bit behind in Maya, so I spent the last few weeks playing an unwilling game of catchup, vaguely reminiscent of figure modeling class some years back... At least it wasn't completely dull... I listened to three of the four Twilight audiobooks while doing my homework, and it kept my mind occupied through the million clicks and keyboard presses. (Bad side of working in maya for that long is that now I'm using Maya shortcuts in all my damned Adobe programs and it's really frustrating :P)

Now I've got to catch up on a few things not-school-related. Xbox, art, and writing.

uh, probably in that order, but I won't be sure until I see how the holidays go. ;D I'm SO thrilled about Christmas, but for an entirely different reason than the norm. We got the girls some really great gifts this year, and I can't wait to see what they think of them. :D

very tired after that week of death. must sleep.
